ABOUT ELUSIVE FILMS
OUR STORY
Elusive Films was founded in May 2020 by Dr. Jason Weixelbaum. Laid off at the onset of the pandemic and grieving the recent death of his father, Jay had some time to think about the decade of research he’d put into his recently completed PhD in history.
Back in the early 2000s, Jay had gone back to school to study the history of American companies doing business with Nazi Germany after witnessing one of the worst lapses in business ethics working in the mortgage securities business. Intending to understand the mentality of Americans who would sell out their own country, the stories that Jay uncovered were much more dramatic than he’d ever expected. Buried in the archives was an incredible story of a Nazi businessman who went on a spy mission to New York City in 1940 to recruit American executives. Standing in his way was a Jewish FBI agent and a small team of investigators bent on stopping this agent of fascism as the world hung in the balance. Jay was continually surprised that nobody had ever brought this dramatic episode to life on screen. He put pen to paper, and A Nazi on Wall Street was born. Jay’s dad was an actor and producer for more than 50 years. When he passed, Jay decided to honor his memory by bringing together a group of writers, producers, and artists to create Elusive Films, which as a collective is dedicated to putting history and film in context. To promote the project, Elusive Films has made a multi-tiered plan: to produce a short film showcasing a portion of the A Nazi on Wall Street story, and to create a podcast to start a continuing conversation about a rich array of important historical topics and how they relate to current events. Elusive Films continues to grow and expand due to the generous contributions of people who care about bringing the A Nazi on Wall Street project to life. We hope you’ll join our growing ranks of supporters who appreciate that the topics we're addressing are essential to making sense of our ever-changing society. If you're new to our page: Don’t wait!
